There are times when a furnace doesn’t have any symptoms before things go wrong. The most frustrating problem is when the furnace won’t turn on at all. Treat’s Heating & Cooling will give you some tips on what to look for before calling us for service.
- Check that your thermostat is set to “Heat”
- Check & change your filter if it is dirty, sometimes debris gets in the system if you don’t have a clean filter or the wrong size filter.
- Raise the temperature on the thermostat until you hear it click if the room is several degrees below the thermostat or the thermostat doesn’t click, you can start troubleshooting the furnace.
- Is the pilot light lit? A standing pilot light should be visible when you open the combustion chamber door. If the pilot light is out, it must be re-lit.
