Money saving tips by Treat’s Heating & Cooling

There are a few ways to make the most out of your HVAC equipment and save money this spring.  The list we have combined below contains some simple tips that will be helpful when planning ahead.

Air Conditioning tune up: Having your air conditioning tuned up in the Spring will keep your system running efficiently.  If the system is not tuned up, that means it is working twice as hard.  You can allow your equipment to do its job and save you money.

Replace your furnace filters: Lack of filter changes and maintenance can cause equipment breakdown and costly repairs.  You should check your filters often and replace/wash them every three months.

Keep your thermostat set: It is tempting to keep bumping the thermostat up and down but this can be inefficient.  Raising the thermostat 2-3 degrees during the day while you are away is okay and will still save you money.  Keep in mind every degree you raise the setting, you can expect to cut energy consumption by 3-5% which can add up during the peak seasons.

Consider a programmable thermostat: by using a programmable thermostat, you can set it for different times and days that you want the heat/air to come on and off.  This way you are not heating or cooling the home when you are away.
