There are many myths out there about ways to keep the cold air inside when you have air conditioning. Treat’s Heating & Cooling would like to share a few tips on myths and energy saving.
- Turning the air conditioning off while you are away is more energy efficient – turning the air conditioning off allowing your home to heat up again is only costing you more in the long run. Once you return home you have to start from a warm temperature and get the whole house cooled down again.
- Dropping the thermostat to a lower degree will cool the home faster – Your air conditioning system can only move the warm air at a certain speed. When you set the thermostat to a low temperature you are wasting energy and your home won’t cool any faster.
- Closing the vents will boost efficiency – when you close the vents in unused rooms all you are doing is cooling the inside of the air ducts since your system is designed to manage cooling for your entire home (if it is sized properly).
