Buildup: Gas Fireplaces can sometimes have debris build-up. For example, ceramic logs can deteriorate and clog vents. If the exterior chimney is cracked or in poor condition moisture can enter the chimney system and cause the flue tiles to break off and fall into the hearth.
Function: Over time valves and connections can develop leaks. Thermopiles and thermocouples can be worn or in need of a cleaning. The ceramic logs should be checked to ensure they are in good working condition.
Ventilation: A Gas Fireplace burns clean, meaning there is not creosote or soot deposited in your chimney but the structure still needs to be inspected annually. Often times, birds will build their nests in a chimney so you need to be cautious of this as well.
