- Turning off the air conditioning while away saves energy – Turning the air conditioning off while you are away will only make your home much warmer. It requires more energy to bring the temperature back down to a comfortable level when you return. By adjusting your thermostat up a few degrees when you are away this will contain the cool air until you return without driving energy costs higher.
- Purchasing an energy efficient air conditioning system will save money on utility bills – If your unit is not sized correctly and is over-sized, this could end up costing you more money. A unit that is too large for the home will cycle on and off repeatedly.
- Leaving a ceiling fan on will keep the room cool – Fans do create a wind-chill effect as the air comes in contact with your skin so you will feel cooler. The ceiling fan does not reduce the actual temperature, you are just burning energy.
