Geothermal Heat Pumps by Treat’s Heating & Cooling

Every climate has a temperature throughout the year that varies.  For some climates that means hot summers and cold winters.  One thing that people don’t realize is below ground the temperature stays fairly consistent all year long.  The ground is able to maintain a higher rate of temperature because it absorbs the suns energy as it hits the earth’s surface.

During a heating cycle, a geothermal heat pump uses the earth to extract heat from the ground.  As the system pulls heat it also distributes it through a conventional duct system as warm air.  The same heat energy can also be used for radiant floor systems or hot water tanks.

During the cooling mode, the heating process is reversed, creating cool conditioned air throughout the home.  Instead of extracting heat from the ground, heat is extracted from the air in your home and either moved back to the earth or used to preheat the water in your hot water tank.

Geothermal energy has been used to heat and air condition homes and buildings for decades.  If you are interested in getting more information please call Treat’s Heating & Cooling at 360.825.0800 for a free estimate on new installation.
